Employee campaign continues to provide assistance to employees

The CAMC Foundation's employee fund was established in 1991 to assist CAMC employees during times of financial crisis.  This fund provides up to $800 assistance to employees who experience personal financial emergencies such as replacement of personal items due to a flood, fire or other disaster, moving expenses to escape unsafe living conditions and funeral and medical expenses.

The 2009 campaign took place during the summer, and, after a successful campaign, there are now 1,480 employees contributing in some manner.  This is an increase of 239 over last year. Contributions can be made throughout the year through payroll deductions, one-time gifts and paid time off.  Employees may apply for a grant from the "Employee Fund" by completing a grant application after one year of employment.  Applications are available in all CAMC Human Resource offices.

Since 1991, 575 CAMC employees have received grants totaling $283,570.

In 2008, more than $42,000 was distributed to assist employees. The foundation has appropriated $85,000 for 2009 to help employees in their time of need.

An anonymous recipient recently wrote, "The CAMC Foundation employee fund is a wonderful asset to employees. When my husband had to have surgery and was out of work for a while, it helped cover medical expenses not covered by the insurance. Also, when one of my co-workers lost everything in a house fire, they helped her.  Many people benefit from this, and that is why I contribute to it.  One never knows what can happen in their lives and when they may need help."

A committee of CAMC employees meets each month to review employee fund applications. Employees are encouraged to apply to the fund when they are in a financial crisis.  All CAMC employees can "Make A World of Difference" in a co-workers life by contributing to the CAMC Foundation Employee Fund.
